There been some challenges and we hope you are all staying safe.
We've recently had fantastic success with our grant applications in both NSW and Victoria, held some great winter activties at Perisher and Hotham and we provide an update on plans for the rest of winter.

| Fabulous Grant Success for NSW Biathlon |
Biathlon East Australia's member NSW Biathlon has been awarded a grant for $785,000 to build a Roller-Ski and Cycleway track, purchase new technology laser biathlon systems and house new amenities including storage, sports office, changerooms and bathrooms at Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre.
The new facilities will position Jindabyne Sport and Recreation Centre as a centre for Summer Biathlon in NSW and Australia, increase participation and support developing and high performance biathletes.

| Travel Grants for Victorian Biathletes |
Congratulations to Victorian Biathlon on their successful application for Junior Talented Athlete Development Scholarships. The grants have been awarded to 4 of our Victorian based biathletes to support them with travel to biathlon, cross country skiing and school based events in 2021.
East Gipplsland Biathlon Club has been awarded both a Uniform grant and a Club Capacity building grant for biathlon in regional Gippsland in Victoria.

| Winter Activities at Hotham and Perisher |
There was a strong focus on cross country skiing and laser biathlon at our Perisher July school holiday training sessions and activities.

| Event and Programs Update |
With the fantastic snowfalls of recent weeks, biathlon and cross country skiing activities are continuing at both Perisher and Hotham. Unfortunately, with the current COVID challenges in NSW, biathlon events due to be held in conjunction with NSW/ACT/QLD Interschools in August will be unable to proceed.
However, an event at Perisher in September is a serious possibility pending snow conditions and travel restrictions being lifted in NSW.
In Hotham, a training camp and time trial opportunities are under consideration given the cancellation this week of the 2021 Australian Biathlon Championships.
